Individual therapy services

I believe in the importance of collaboration in therapy, and I’ll work with you to develop an individual treatment plan to help move you closer to your treatment goals.

I practice from a behavioral perspective, which means the focus will be on doing things differently and noticing what happens. I will work with you to identify what really matters to you—who or what in your life gives you a sense of meaning or purpose—and, from there, will help you to develop skills that will allow you to take concrete steps toward a more enriching life.

I am licensed in the states of Illinois and Washington, and I provide virtual sessions only. Please note that you are required to be present in one of those states at the time of session.


What to expect

First session

Our first appointment together serves as a consultation and assessment session. I will want to hear about what led to you making an appointment, your goals for therapy, and some background about yourself and your current life situation.

By the end of this first appointment, I will give you some initial recommendations on what I think will help: sometimes I might recommend sessions with me, and sometimes I might recommend another professional who I believe would work well with your particular treatment goals.

This session is also a chance for you to get to know me: if you don’t feel my approach or our personality styles would be a good fit, please let me know and I will be happy to provide recommendations to other therapists. At the end of the day, my priority is supporting you in finding a therapist and a treatment approach that will best suit your needs.

Ongoing work

We will collaborate on a treatment plan that incorporates effective strategies to help you move closer to your therapy goals.

While providing feedback to one’s therapist can feel difficult, I encourage and value an ongoing conversation about what is working in therapy and what isn’t so that we might modify our approach to best suit your needs.

All sessions with me last for 53 minutes. I usually meet with clients once weekly, as I find that frequency works best. If you wish to change the frequency of your sessions for any reason, I will collaborate with you in weighing the pros and cons relative to your stated therapy goals.
